Maryam is a member of the corporate team. She advises on acquisitions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, company formations and general corporate and commercial matters.

Maryam advises a number of the firm’s key clients, including H.R.H. the Prime Minister’s Office, Bahrain International Circuit, Amana Healthcare Bahrain and Mubasher Capital. She also regularly advises foreign investors on their expansion into Bahrain in collaboration with the Economic Development Board. She has contributed to the delivery of the Corporate Law module as part of the Judicial & Legal Studies Institute’s Professional Legal Practice Certificate programme.

Maryam joined the firm as an intern in 2021, was promoted to Trainee Associate later that year and to Associate in 2023. She was previously seconded to Investcorp on a full-time basis and to the National Bank of Bahrain on a part-time basis.

Experience

  • Advised a group of creditors on the US$1 billion cross-border restructuring of JBF RAK.
  • Advised Ghitha, a Mumtalakat portfolio company, on its acquisition of a minority stake in Amalfi Foods.
  • Advised Masar Group, a Mumtalakat portfolio company, on its acquisition of a majority stake in Beach Culture.
  • Advised on the buy-out of the minority shareholders of a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Bahrain with branches across the MENA region.
  • Advised on the acquisition of a minority stake in a local wire manufacturing business, including its concurrent conversion from an individual establishment into a limited liability company.
  • Conducted legal due diligence on a proposed target on behalf of a listed company.
  • Advised a high-net-worth family-owned business on the inheritance-based transfer of 10 real estate properties in Bahrain, including the incorporation of a real estate holding company.
