Maryam joined Newton Legal in 2021, and is currently an Associate at the firm.
She has worked with a number of the firm’s key clients including Mumtalakat and a number of its portfolio companies, namely Mazad, Gulf Aluminum Rolling Mill Company (GARMCO), Masar Group and Radio Bahrain.
Maryam is a member of the team that advised, from a local law perspective, on the restructuring of an international plastics manufacturer, with plants based in Europe, Asia and the Middle East (including Bahrain). She was also a member of the team advising on the buy-out of the minority shareholders of a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Bahrain with branches across the MENA region.
She also regularly advises foreign investors on their expansion into Bahrain in collaboration with the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB).
Maryam is a member of the team that advised a governmental entity on parallel proceedings brought before the courts of Bahrain and an arbitral tribunal (seated in London). She is also a co-author of the Lexology Panoramic – Dispute Resolution in Bahrain, which offers insight into litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in Bahrain.
She was previously seconded on a part-time basis to the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) and to Investcorp on a full-time basis.
