Ahmed leads the Corporate team at Newton Legal and works closely with a number of prominent financial institutions and government-owned companies in Bahrain. He advises on both cross-border and domestic acquisitions, serving as lead and local counsel in transactions involving financial institutions and healthcare providers. He also has experience advising clients on corporate governance and corporate restructurings. He joined the firm in 2015 and was promoted to partner in 2021. During his tenure, Ahmed was seconded to a leading regional media network.

  • Led the team on the sale of Al Hilal Life and Al Hilal Takaful by Ahli United Bank to Solidarity Bahrain.
  • Acted as local counsel in the repurchase of equity in a regional pharmaceutical company and the cross-border restructuring of a global manufacturer.
  • Advised the first company in Bahrain to delist from Bahrain Bourse and convert from a public to a closed company.
  • Advised Ahli United Bank on its acquisition by Kuwait Finance House and its subsequent delisting from Bahrain Bourse and conversion to a closed company.
  • Advised a group of creditors on the US$ 1,000,000,000 cross-border restructuring of JBF Rak.
  • Advised Ghitha, a portfolio company of Mumtalakat, on its acquisition of a minority stake in Amalfi Foods.
  • Advised Masar, a maritime services company, on its acquisition of a majority share Beach Culture, a company specialising in providing water-based experiences and activities.
  • Advised a leading financial institution in Bahrain on updating and revising its general terms and conditions.
  • Led the team advising a listed company, acting as lead counsel, in the proposed sale of a subsidiary.
