Newton Legal Supports the 2025 JLSI PLPC Programme
Newton Legal is proud to have cooperated with the Bahrain Judicial & Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) on the 2025 Professional Legal Practice Certificate (PLPC) programme, which recently celebrated the graduation of the fourth batch of students, numbering 31. The five-month initiative is designed to help recent law graduates gain practical legal experience in order to strengthen their skills for the job market, and included topics such as legal research and analysis, drafting contracts and dispute resolution.
Senior Associate Omaima Alkooheji and Associate Maryam Al Bastaki led the programme’s Corporate Law module, which covered subjects such as company formation, share transfers, corporate applications and corporate legal drafting. Specific topics included drafting corporate resolutions, board resolutions, minutes of general assemblies and constitutional documents, as well as annual filings expected of companies registered in the Kingdom.
Newton Legal’s participation reflects the firm’s commitment to social impact as per its Corporate Social Responsibility policy, and its determination to support the educational and professional development of young lawyers in Bahrain.
Sulaf Zakharia, Head of Institutional Relations at JLSI, commented that “Newton Legal Group has been instrumental in shaping the PLPC from its inception, through curriculum design and hands-on delivery of the Corporate Law module. Their continued consultation, practical involvement, and financial support have had a tangible impact on the quality and relevance of the programme.”
Ahmed Al Fardan, Partner at Newton Legal, echoed a similar sentiment regarding the firms’ involvement in the programme, saying, “We have been working with JSLI since the first edition of the programme and are extremely happy to contribute to the initiative and deliver effective training to new lawyers. We are also pleased to see that the programme continues to attract many young Bahraini professionals.”
