Newton Legal presents on the Corporate Governance Code
Newton Legal Group presented on the Corporate Governance Code which came into effect on 19 October 2018 at a legal training event hosted by Mumtalakat for the benefit of itself and its subsidiaries on 30 April 2019 at the Mumtalakat Board Room.
The code aims to give guidance to companies on the best ways to manage, lead, organize and monitor their businesses through a series of transparent, clearly defined policies, processes and procedures.
Newton Legal’s Aamal Al Abbasi (Managing Partner) and Ali Toorani (Associate) presented an overview of the code and the requirements that arise as part of the code’s ‘Comply or Explain’ principle. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session.
Mr. Ali Al Alawi, Head of Corporate Governance at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism presented alongside Newton Legal at the event. His presentation primarily focused on giving an introduction and background to the new Corporate Governance Code and further discussed the practical requirements of the code.
